Last week I worked away from home and stayed in the Tewkesbury Park Hotel. I searched Trip Advisor for a decent local place to eat and discovered this place who’s menu looked fantastic. This husband and wife owned and run “fine restaurant” has many Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
Although the menu portrays a fine dining experience, I did find that the portions (more so the starters) were quite large, and felt that some of the menu was overpriced (Ice Cream is £3.50 per scoop!!). Saying that, I believe everyone enjoyed their food.
The Brie and Caramelised Strawberries to start is very yummy although the amount of sugar on mine that then turned solid at the bottom of the dish was too much. The Prawn Cocktail I have to mention, as you get a mountain of prawns.
For the Mains; Tenderloin Of Pork With Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé is absolutely fantastic, everything on the plate fits together so well and is very tasty! You don’t need any sides with this dish. The Lamb Shank looked good although there was big pieces of mustard in the mash, not for everyone?
For dessert I tried the chocolate soufflé which was rich and yummy and the Turkish Delight ice cream which was fabulous. It’s a shame the ice cream is so highly priced.
In summary we all enjoyed the food and I would visit again but I’m glad work was footing the bill this time round. It would have to be a special occasion for me so accept dining here at these prices I think! This is a quaint little place run by husband and wife who both came cross friendly, however we did feel there wasn’t much atmosphere here.
