££ = You can get an 11 inch pizza (as little or as many topping as you like for same price), a side and bottomless soft drink for approx £13pp.
So as it was Cheese Pizza Day (somewhere!) yesterday, we thought what better treat than to visit MOD pizza!
I would class this restaurant as a “fast food” restaurant but serving quality, fresh food to order. The idea is you queue up to order your pizza, whether it’s one of the menu selections, or build-your-own, choosing from a variety of bases, meats, veggies, cheeses and sauces. There is lots to choose from! (See toppings selection on the photo below.) Once you have chosen your pizza this then goes straight into their massive pizza oven that you can see from the counter, and served hot & fresh to your table.
The selection of starters & sides is minimal but that is understandable as the pizza really is the star of the show (and they will fill you up!). Saying that, we had to give them a go. The Hummus starter is decent with a piece of freshly made and toasted bread (like a pizza base). The wedges were pretty standard but a large portion – best for sharing. The drinks options are fairly standard, they have a self service soft drinks machine, with a variety of Coca Cola flavours.
I went for the “Maddy Marie” which is MOD’s Margarita, as it was Cheese Pizza Day, however I had extra toppings of basil and goats cheese. The base of the pizza is quite thin, so the pizza was lovely and crispy and it tasted great, I am glad I added the extra toppings! “A cheese pizza just for me”, and I ate every last bit!
Jamie ordered the “Calexico” (red sauce, mozzarella, chicken, jalapenos, blue cheese & hot buffalo sauce) with added red onion. Boy this was hot, but it was good! And yet again we cleared the plate.
As we were so stuffed, we didn’t have the chance to enjoy any desserts BUT they gave me some “No Name Cake” to takeaway 🙂 I only had a small piece of this as I took it to share with my work colleagues, but it was a nice bit of yummy chocolate cake and the feedback was that it reminded them of mini chocolate rolls!
Overall I think this was a great place to grab a pizza, suitable for families, couples, friends or even to grab one to take home for yourself! Fresh ingredients, chosen yourself, and made in front of you, what more could you want? My experience here was a 4 out of 5!
