Pazza, Leeds City Centre

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Recently introduced to MOD Pizza in Leeds, Pazza serves pasta dishes with a set menu or a build your own option. Decent “fast-food” choice in Leeds serving fresh, locally sourced food.

Having found out about Pazza coming to MOD via LinkedIn, we went to try it with the 50% off introductory offer. Pazza works the same as MOD Pizza in that you have a small menu with various set pasta dishes that you can add extra toppings to, or you can build your own pasta dish with a small range of different pastas, sauces and a bigger range of toppings available.  I would class this restaurant as a “fast-food” restaurant but one that serves fresh, made-to-order food.

The menu offers 7 pasta dishes with vegetarian and vegan options as well. We decided to try the Chicken Arrabbiata – Fresh rigatoni with Pomodoro sauce, fresh basil, spicy Calabrian chillies and chicken – not a bad dish however I was disappointed as the dish wasn’t spicy at all, in fact it felt like the chillies had been forgotten altogether, but apart from that it was nice. I’m also not sure why the dish is called Arrabbiata when they use tomato sauce and not the spicy Arrabbiata sauce that they also have? But despite the criticism it was a nice pasta dish. Set meals are priced between £5.95 – £8.75.

For a slightly higher price of £9.45 you can make your own pasta. Choices of pasta; Rigatoni (large tubes) or Scialatelli (like thick spaghetti). Choices of sauces; Tomato Pomodoro, Spicy Arrabbiata, Creamy Alfredo and Basil Pesto. There are also a range of toppings including meats, vegetables, herbs and cheeses.  We built out own; Rigatoni with Spicy Arrabbiata sauce topped with Spicy Sausage, Olives, Roasted Red Peppers, Basil and Feta. We really enjoyed this tasty dish that had a bit of a kick, and would recommend building your own dish above the set menu from our experience.

If you fancy a bit of pasta or pizza made to order without the wait in Leeds centre, and you don’t mind paying prices close to the prices you would get in a local Italian Restaurant, then I’d recommend visiting Pazza & MOD pizza.
