Sapori @ Kommune, Sheffield City Centre (No longer trading at Kommune)

New independent food vendor at Kommune in Sheffield City Centre, Sapori, serves delicious, fresh pasta dishes and other Italian delights. A great addition to this social food hall.

Our most recent Sheffield Foodie Socials event was at none other than Kommune, this time getting to sample the recently opened Italian kitchen, Sapori. Having dined at Kommune a few times, I still really enjoy getting the chance to try something new every time, and now we have the choice of sample fresh pasta too!

This new kitchen offers a choice of starters such as brucshetta with different toppings, arancini and a choice of salads as well as some well-recognised pasta based dishes with a choice of linguine, penne or tagliatelle, and risottos also. There are kid’s portions of the menu too as well as gluten free options.

At this particular event we were gifted a welcome drink of an Aperol Spritz (not usually a fan but it was nice and refreshing). I was really looking forward to the idea of Arancini but both the Chorizo and Pumpkin options sounded good so myself and foodie friend Rachael (_memyselfandr) shared both. I have to say our favourite was the Chorizo arancini which was cooked well and has decent chunks of meat throughout. Unfortunately I think the flavour over-powered the Pumpkin arancini but this was still creamy and lovely and we heard many good comments from others on this one. Both are served with a jalapeno and tomato sauce which is really good too.

My main had to contain something tomato-ey with a bit of spice as that’s my favourite type of pasta dish. So I went with the Arrabbiata (V) and chose to have it with tagliatelle. The pasta was undoubtedly fresh and the sauce was lovely and tangy and had a great heat to it that grew the more I ate. I would have liked to see a little more vegetables in the sauce if I have to be picky, but the dish was filling, comforting and topped with a good helping of Parmesan.

Some of the other dishes to note from comments from others was the Bruschetta topped with Gorgonzola & crispy prosciutto, Carbonara and the Avocado Pesto (Ve).

Kommune now has a great variety of independent kitchens for you to choose from and return time after time and still try something new! A great place to meet up with friends over some fantastic food & drink.

I hope that my review has inspired you to give this place a try. If you have anywhere you would recommend I should eat at, please leave a comment below. If you are a restaurant/food vendor and would like to collaborate with me in any way, please just email me at jensfoodblog@gmail.com!

Happy munching!
