Originally I avoided “ingredients delivered to your door” kind of companies where you have to subscribe for a certain price per month/delivery, to have ingredients sent for you to cook, because I thought; why would I when I can just get the ingredients myself cheaper in th esupermarket??
BUT
In May 2017 I visited the Great British Food Festival at Harewood House in Harrogate, where I was scouting for some yummy treats (and freebies of course) in one of the tents. A guy commented on something and got chatting to me, and it turned out he was from one of these food delivery companies, called Gousto. I thought I would humour him for a moment before saying no thank you and walking away. But then he explained that they had an offer on for 3 boxes/deliveries at half price, and you can skip deliveries, or cancel at any time.

So I decided to sign up and see what all the fuss was about, with the initial intention of just cancelling my account as soon as the offer ended. Our first box arrived (first box was full price at approx. £32 for 3 meals for 2 people), and it was quite exciting! I looked inside the box and thought, these portions look small! However when I then made our first meal, following the really easy and visual recipe card, I realised that it was because Gousto provide pre-measured ingredients, which are just enough for each recipe, leaving you with no waste! How many times do we cook something and end up throwing bits of food away that we didn’t use, or making too much and binning the leftovers?? And the portions were actually extremely filling!
I carried on with the 3 box offer over the next few months – 2nd box half price, 3rd box free. And each time, trying something new. I actually realised on my free box that I could opt for 4 meals for 2 people! Bargain!
Each week Gousto adds new and varied recipes to try out;from amazing Asian inspired dishes like “Crispy Pork Belly & Noodle Ramen”, to tasty vegetarian dishes such as “Grilled Paneer, Spiced Veg & Tomato Wraps”
Here’s some dishes I made earlier 🙂

6 years later I still have a subscription although I probably order a box maybe once a quarter. I am really impressed with how tasty the meals that I have made through Gousto are, and how easy most of the recipes are to follow. I now have my recipe cards saved across 2 Gousto folders (you can get yours free added on to your box), and I have made some recipes 3 or 4 times since, using my own ingredients bought in with my weekly shop. The cost from 2017 for a box has obviously gone up and now is approx. £37 for 4 meals for 2 people including postage.
If you are interested in trying mouth-watering recipes that are delivered fresh to your door from £2.99 per serving, then sign up here and enjoy your first box with 65% off and 25% off your first two months!
Let me know what you think if you decide to give it a go 🙂
