A well presented and cosy pub, serving great “pub food” with a bit of a twist, at great value for money.
Overall Rating – 4/5
££ = Approx £55 per couple for three courses each and soft drinks
Set in a cosy pub, this small independent restaurant has a charming and warm vibe about it and offers traditional pub food with a flair.
Main dishes range from your traditional Steak, Fish & Chips or Beef Burger to something a little different like a Root Vegetable Bhaji Sandwich or Trio of Beef! There is something for everyone here! On the lunch menu, they offer a “pub lunch” sharing board that sound absolutely amazing and includes; Beef Sliders, Pigs in Blankets, Fish and Chips, Ploughman’s Lunch, Halloumi Fries, Pulled Beef Bites, Chorizo Bites, Sausage Rolls, Scotched Egg and Maple Pork Scratching’s. All the classics on one board!!!
We dined on a Saturday evening so unfortunately couldn’t sample the Sharing Board but did enjoy a very fulfilling 3 course meal each!
For starters we tried the Halloumi Fries which were fairly standard but nice, with a sweet chilli side dip. We also had the Trio of Bites; Pulled Beef Bite with a horseradish aioli (this was my favourite), Chorizo Bite with red pepper aioli and a Crispy Soft Egg dressed with herb oil. Decent starters overall.
For my main I went for the Pork Chop accompanied by potatoes, chorizo, an apple & parsnip purée and a whiskey cream sauce. What a whopping great chop! This meal was really tasty and I think I just about ate it all (leaving a little room for dessert of course).
Jamie went for the good old Burger; 8oz beef burger topped with smoked streaky bacon and cheddar cheese in a glazed brioche style bun with our signature burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion. Served with triple cooked beef dripping chips. The burger was cooked well. Expected a little more from the chips but there were good chunky and crispy wedges.
Our eyes are definitely too big for our bellies, not that it stops us! We spotted Sticky Toffee Pudding on the dessert board and as you know it’s a fave of ours we had to do it! Served with salted caramel ice cream.Yum, ate it all!
Jamie ordered the Honeycomb Cheesecake which again was top notch and his plate was cleared!
In summary this nice little pub offers some fantastic comfort food and the service here is impeccable. I would like to return to try the sharing board for sure!

Happy munching!
