Great local pub with a huge beer garden & quality Sunday dinner.

This traditional, local pub to me is a great place for this time of year as it has a huge been garden and hosts many events such as live music and tribute nights! Until recently I’d only been for the odd drink here and decided to try out the Sunday Dinner.
The Hare & Hounds offer a small but fairly traditional Sunday food menu as per the above, focusing on popular homemade dishes. They also offer half portion starters for anyone who doesn’t want to fill up too fast before their main!

We decided to share the starter of the garlic mushrooms which came in a crème fraiche sauce. These were tasty, and a decent sized portion (not the most photogenic of meals) A few other diners chose the soup which also looked appetising.
For the main I went for the pork (with crackling of course). Sunday dinners are served as a large portion of creamy mash, roast potatoes, topped with the meat of your choices and then a big Yorkshire. On the side you get cauliflower cheese (yum), carrots, cabbage and broccoli.

The amount of meat served is a large portion but it was cooked well and the whole dinner was delicious. Never one to complain much about large portions, I did enjoy it and almost cleared my plate, but I am afraid there was definitely no room for any dessert at all! (only a few gins) 😂👍🏼.

But I have to say the cookie dough & the crumble desserts that diners around me were enjoying, looked fabulous! Next time I may have to sacrifice a starter, ask for a smaller main and get all over the desserts!!

We finished our meal and went into the adjacent room for a few drinks and enjoyed some live music that had started at 5pm. All in all we had a lovely evening here and I’ll definitely be back!
