Sheffield’s oldest Indian Restaurant serving classic curry dishes. Enjoy delicious food in cosy and modern surroundings. Overall rating 4.5/5 #ReytGoodCurreh

Based on Ecclesall Road close to Sheffield City Centre, this traditional Indian Restaurant has had a few famous visitors and holds great reviews, and I could see why after my recent visit. Cosy, clean and modern, this under-stated restaurant is a lovely little curry house perfect for any curry lover to visit, and close-by to some great bars to enjoy a few drinks afterwards! The restaurant also offers collections and deliveries via City Grab.

The restaurant was busy on Saturday night so booking is recommended, and PLEASE if you do have a booking but become unable to make it, please let the restaurant know beforehand. Currently the menu is limited, however there is still a lot of choice and we were made aware that all curries can be made to your preference of spiciness which is always a bonus.

We decided not to orders Starters due to planning on having a few drinks after our meal however there is a small choice available including some vegetarian options and starters are priced between £4.50 – £6.50. However we couldn’t turn down the poppadoms and pickle tray of course, as always, a classic way to start the meal – faultless and yummy!

For mains, I went with the Keralan Coconut Chicken Curry (Medium) – A fiery South Indian curry with coconut & rich spices. I chose this because I do love curries that are flavoured with coconut but still have that kick and spiciness to them. For me I could have asked for it hotter actually but it was super tasty, and the chunks of chicken were massive but cooked so well they just fell apart, beautiful! Portion size was good, between us we finished it but I couldn’t have eaten a crumb more, very filling!

Ben chose the Taxi Driver Curry (Hot) – Smokey chicken tikka with garlic minced lamb, fresh green chillies cooked in a cast iron karai. Ben loves hot food and this had a great kick to it, spicy enough for me I wouldn’t have wanted it any hotter, but just right for him. This dish is delicious and with the blend of the meat, sauce and small chunks of chicken it was very easy to eat every last bit. We had a rice to share between us and that was more than enough.

When our bill came, so did a little cast iron pan with a pot of hot water to pour into the pan and create your own little hot towels – a cute little touch, little mint chocolates – always a classic after curry treat, oh and we got a little freebie to take away too – a pack of Indian biscuits! They were like small malted milk biscuits and were munched up the following day 🙂

There are only 1 or 2 Mains not available on the limited menu, so lots to choose from including a good choice of vegetarian dishes. Prices range between £10 – £13.50 for a main meal.

Service here was good, there are some decent drinks to choose from including a few bespoke beers not available anywhere else, and the menu has it’s own Sheffield touch #ReytGoodCurreh. I really enjoyed the food and visit here, great for date night and would be lovely to go with a group of friends too! I was really happy to see it so busy and I would happily return here.
