For those days where you just need to put that beer or glass of wine down, but you still want a refreshing drink that gives you that feel-good, unwinding feeling – try Mother Root [ad – gifted]
“🫚🍸A fiery and fresh ginger non-alcoholic aperitif, Mother Root is the feel-good aperitif that helps you unwind without the alcohol. No additives, no preservatives, nothing you’ve never heard of. Just four all-natural whole ingredients with a complex, bold and delicious taste.”
🔥 Wow this stuff really does give a fiery kick! The flavour from this aperitif is superb, cutting and so mouthwatering. I concocted a couple of “mocktails”, experimenting with things that I had leftover in the fridge or had grown myself.

Firstly I paired it with a plain soda, some chopped strawberries and some basil picked from my garden! – VERY refreshing and light, with that fire!
Secondly I paired it with some freshly squeezed orange juice, mushed up some leftover raspberries and finished with apple & elderflower sparkling water. Sounds like a lot going on but actually the sweetness and fruitiness was still quite subtle along with the ginger. Yum!
🍛Then I got to thinking… I can use this in my cooking. Along came one of the best Thai green curries I had made in a long time, pouring a shot of Mother Root in the frying pan to flash fry my chicken and vegetables in before adding the spices and coconut milk.
This is soon becoming a kitchen staple for me, and perfect for weekends off from drinking in between all the madness that is life!
