Bloom Brasserie, Dublin

Overall Rating – 5/5

Superb food, fantastic atmosphere, high quality fine dining.

££ = £95 for 2 people, 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 glass of wine, 2 pints of beer and a bottle of still water.

I visited Dublin in February, staying in the Ballsbridge area at the Mespil Hotel. I actually booked this restaurant before we traveled as we love to go out for food often and I wanted to find a highly-rated, fine dining restaurant. Turns out this place was just round the corner from our hotel, and rated number 1 on Trip Advisor for Dublin! I have to say, it did not disappoint and it definitely lived up to it’s high rating.

The restaurant is almost easy to miss if walking down the street, and takes you underground straight to the bar area. The decor is quite sophisticated, clean and smart and quite dimly lit.

The menu offers meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes to suit. We opted for the Kilmore Quay Crab and the Carpaccio of Whisky Glazed Fillet of Beef for our starters which looked amazing when they came out! We both tucked in and all we could say was “oh my god” and “mmmm” between each mouthful! Safe to say the starters were easily finished.

For our main courses we chose the Rib Eye Steak and the Chargrilled Venison which were both again absolutely superb and we finished the lot. The super-thin crispy fries that came with the Venison were fantastic! We couldn’t fault any of the food, it was very flavoursome and really well presented.

Although we spent approx £95 altogether, we felt it was well worth it and actually expected it to come to more. If we visit Dublin again, I would love to eat at the Bloom Brasserie a second time!
