Great carvery serving everything you could need and friendly staff that really take care of you!
Approx £22 for 2 people; 2 standard carverys (one if extras), and 2 drinks.
Despite the gorgeous sunny weather we are blessed with this Summer, I am still on the hunt for the best Sunday Dinners around Yorkshire! I was kindly invited to Hawthorne Farm in Yeadon, literally just round the corner from Leeds Bradford airport (you can watch the planes take off and land from the outside seating!) Recently voted number one carvery in Yorkshire on Trip Advisor, I was excited to see what this place was all about.
On this particular Saturday afternoon (actually usually one of their quieter days of the week on carvery), the car park was full, and people were enjoying the beer garden and outdoor seating area, fabulous in the sunshine. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff.
This particular carvery, part of the Farmhouse Inn chain, offers Bar Service – order food and drinks at the bar, and collect a carvery voucher. We eagerly went to the carvery counter, which looked very appetising. There was so much veg, salad and different choices of meat on offer! The meat choices were beef, turkey, pork and gammon. You can also opt for extras – pigs in blankets or Giant Yorkshire Pudding. I opted for the pork and beef and got two big slices of each! Then there’s the vegetables where you can help yourself to as much as you can fit on your plate! From carrots and peas, to red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Then there’s the all important roast potatoes as well as mash! Yum Yum! There is also a salad bar, and a selection of gravy’s and sauces on the side.
We filled our plates and devoured the lot, and then clocked our eyes on the amazing desserts cabinate. Farmhouse Inns are quite famous for their desserts and “cakeaways”, with lots to choose from such as carrot cake, “marz attacks” cake, millionaire shortbread, the list goes on. After my scrumptious carvery, I wasn’t sure I could manage any of the cakes, so I opted for an ice cream instead. Flavours to choose from included Honeycomb, Banana & Butterscotch, Strawberry, Mint choc chip, White Chocolate etc. I opted for the honeycomb which was lovely. And I was also given a complimentary SLAB of chocolate fudge cake to take with me and enjoy later (advised to warm up and serve with Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream, which is exactly what I plan to do!)
As well as serving great carverys, Hawthorne Farm has a range of other main meals and a selection of Summer Delights such as; The Ultimate Ploughmans, Grilled Sea Bass Fillets, Lemon & Garlic Chicken, and a selection of steaks and burgers and much, much more, for very reasonable prices. Visit their menu here.
I was really impressed with the service here, and can’t wait to visit again! If you are inspired to give Hawthrone Farm a visit because of my review, please share your experience and photos with me 🙂
