Lamb & Flag, Leeds City Centre

Overall rating – 3.5/5

Really decent pub grub close to the centre of Leeds. Great venue with a lovely beer garden as well!

££ – £36 for 2 people; 1 starter to share, 1 Sunday Dinner main each & 2 soft drinks.

Still on the search for the best Sunday Dinners around Leeds, I went off the back of a recommendation to try the roast dinners at the Lamb & Flag (at the bottom of The Calls in Leeds centre).  The venue is lovely! I am unsure if this has recently been refurbished but it definitely looked like it, and there is a decent beer garden too.

We decided to go for one of the specials for a starter – warmed Ciabatta bread with olives, pickles and oils. This was a nice starter to nibble on, although the bread was more just a cut up bread-cake rather than a selection of ciabatta.

But anyway the main purpose of our visit was to try the Sunday roasts, and they did NOT disappoint. I went for the pork main and the portion of meat was very generous! All the trimmings were fabulous; creamy mash (not smash!!), roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots and red cabbage (very sweet with cinnamon). Oh and of course a big Yorkshire pudding to top it all!! I got a decent amount of gravy too. Jamie chose the beef main, again the portion was fantastic! The trimmings are the same on all Sunday mains. There is also a selection of homemade sauces as well that you can ask for. The horseradish sauce was lovely.

We just about managed to eat everything (there was a serious case of having to unbutton my jeans for the drive home!!). There unfortunately wasn’t any room for pudding, maybe if there had been Sticky Toffee Pudding on the Dessert menu I may have forced myself to eat it haha.

I’d definitely give this place a visit if you’re looking for a filling and comforting fresh Sunday Roast! Give their website a look here.

If you have any other recommendations for places to visit in and around Leeds for Sunday Dinner, please let me know. I will be posting a my blog “My Top Sunday Roasts in Leeds” week commencing 24th September (British Roast Dinner Week!!)
