Table 27, Morley (Now moved to Table 26 in Swillington)

Fantastic, welcoming local curry house serving delicious Indian food, a great place to celebrate occasions.

Overall Rating – 4.5/5

££ – Approx £20-£25pp for a starter, main, sides and a few drinks! Bargain!

Table 27 is fastly becoming one of my favourite curry houses. Living near Morley I am lucky to have the choice of a few, and as you know I LOVE my curries and Indian food. The owners of Table 27 used to be co-owners of the Balti House in Tingley which I feel I also want to give a mention as it is still one of my favourite local restaurants that I have visited from a young age.

The staff at Table 27 are so welcoming and friendly and ensure great service from the moment you walk in the door to when you are walking out. The restaurant has a small bar & waiting area, and a large dining area, making you feel comfortable throughout.

The menu is vast here and offers a range of “classic” curries from mild to hot, such as Korma and Madras, to specials and more authentic dishes (my stomach is rumbling again just thinking about it!)

I have dined here a couple of times but more recently I decided to celebrate my birthday here. We kicked off with poppadoms and pickle tray which is the only way to start at an Indian Restaurant, you can’t miss it! Between three of us we enjoyed the following starters; Mixed Kebab, Paneer Tikka and Babli Pops (Spiced meatballs on puffed batter bread). The portion sizes were just right, leaving room for the main, and everything was cooked well and presented well too.

For our mains we had; Lamb Biryani, Prawn Bhuna and Garlic Chilli Chicken, all served slightly differently, all decent sized portions. Everything was delicious, and not greasy! We also shared chips and a family garlic naan which was beaut! All of the food was gorgeous and we ate just about everything, what we didn’t eat went in a doggy bag of course!

We enjoyed a few drinks here too and as SOMEONE (Mummy dear) mentioned it was my birthrday, after our meals were cleared away, the “happy bithday” song came on and I got a lovely ice cream dessert topped with a sparkler!! Cearly still loved it even at my age haha. They also treat me to a birthday drink and as a tradition, everyone receives a complimentary shot with their bill.

I will be regularly eating at Table 27, for me there was nothing to complain about and what’s not to enjoy?! Check out their website here for more info.

Hope you get to visit some day and let me know what you think.

Happy munching!

  1. Hi I used to go to table 27 and I thought it was fantastic.
I have been told that the place is now under new owners ?
If so do we know where the original table 27 owners have gone ?
    Thanks

    • Hi Dennis! Yes I also loved it and it’s a shame! The place is now called Zoya and I have been but didn’t enjoy it as much as when it was Table 27 to be honest. Felt like they were trying to be upmarket when I prefer a good old down to earth curry house! I am not sure where the new owners have gone onto now, Balti House run by Zaks brother Rob is still going strong though in Tingley and that’s always been one of my favourite places, have you tried it?
