Bar Biccari, Horbury

Delicious Italian food that is great value for money, fantastic service & a fabulous atmosphere.

Overall rating – 4.5/5

££ = Approx £20pp through the week for a 2 course meal and a couple of drinks.

Based in a beautiful building in Horbury, this Pizzeria Ristorante who’s Head Chef is from Italy, offers a delicious range of classic Italian food.  As well as being known for it’s food, Bar Biccari also has a Prosecco Bar and hosts events such as “Boozy Bingo”, Bottomless Pizza & Prosecco and Tribute nights.

I dined here on a Tuesday night with a small group of colleagues, who all thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Bar Biccari offer a mid week menu where you can enjoy 2 courses for £13 or 3 for £16, the value for money is fantastic! There are also a number of specials available daily.

For starters I went with the Prawns in Garlic, Chilli & White Wine, a classic, but so tasty!! Starter portions were fairly large but what more would you expect from an independent Italian! I’m not complaining 🙂 Other starters on the offer are; Beef & Pork Meatballs (you can ask for spicy – must be fresh!!), Calamari etc. And some of the starters on the main menu that you can enjoy for between £5 – £9 are; Garlic Mushrooms, Bruschetta, Antipasto etc.

For my main I decided to go with a pasta choice from the main menu of the Penne Manzo; beef fillet strips with wild mushroom, roast butternut squash in a garlic cream sauce. This dish was so delicious it’s making my mouth water thinking about it again! Good size portion not too over facing, I cleared my dish! A popular choice on our table was the Pasta Forno; slowly baked penne, mushrooms, different meats to Nonnas secret recipe. Very filling but very lovely! The pizzas and calzones also looked great!

I made the mistake of being too full for dessert again damnit! Next time! I enjoyed the Prosecco though!

As well as great tasting fresh Italian food, I thought the service was faultless and the staff very friendly and made us feel at ease and we had a laugh with them!

I’m hoping to visit the Prosecco bar here soon and I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone, you’d have a great night here!

If you recommend anywhere in the Leeds/West Yorkshire area serving up some fantastic grub, give me a shout! Check out the rest of my website for more reviews and my tried & tweaked recipes.
