I though I’d write a mini review of a recent visit to an Italian restaurant in Wakefield City Centre – Damelio, we didn’t try a lot of food but the visit was well worth the mention!
Booked a table for 2 for Mad Friday evening just a few days before, the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lovely, very festive with Christmas songs playing, decorations up and a few people enjoying a relaxed start to their Mad Friday.
One thing I would say is that there was a lot of menus to look at and choose from, maybe one too many?? However that could have just been with the time of year as there was a Christmas Menu, the A La Carte Menu and the “Taglieri” (Appetiser trays) Menu, with a small specials board too. The menus offer a range of the fairly traditional Italian courses ranging from £6 – £7 for a starter, to main dishes being priced between £8 – £19, really good value for money.
With us not wanting to overdo it on the food, we settled for a bottle of wine between us and a pasta dish each, and what a bargain!! £30 altogether which we thought was very reasonable!
Pasta dishes tried;
Spicy Sausage & Tomato Pasta – Damelio’s homemade spicy sausage with cherry tomatoes. This was a tasty although very garlicky dish, but lovely!
Vegetable Pappardelle – Pasta cooked in a tomato and basil sauce with a mixture of vegetables of the season and olives. This was another delicious dish and very filling.
Unfortunately I didn’t try anything else but there were some really good sounding dishes I’d like to get the chance to try such as some of the platters off the Taglieri Menu, and the Baileys cheesecake! To check out their full menu and more information on the restaurant, click here.
Happy munching 🙂
