Traditional curry house on the outskirts of Sheffield Centre. Good, tasty food and a welcoming, friendly service. Another curry house you can’t really go wrong with 🙂
I do love going out for a curry (and beer of course). Most curry houses are generally standard when it comes to the menu, venue and service and 7 Spices Balti doesn’t fall away from the good standard of a decent curry house.
Their menu is vast and covers “Traditional” curry dishes, serving meat, fish and vegetarian options, with a long list of Specials as well. It is always good to see an Indian Restaurant menu that includes paneer too 🙂 The venue décor was pretty standard; smart and well spaced out, in-line with social distancing rules for Tier 3 currently. The staff were friendly and the service was great.
We decided to go for the full experience and ordered the full works – pint of Cobra (apparently I’m a proper Yorkshire lass having a pint with my food haha), poppadoms & pickle tray, starters and mains each.

The poppadoms & pickle tray – great as always with the standard pickle tray options of onion salad, yogurt sauce, mango chutney and a spicy sauce!
For starter I OBVIOUSLY went with the Paneer Tikka – large pieces of paneer marinated with spices, grilled and then brought out in a sizzle pan to the table, and flash fried with garlic and onions. This was served at the table with a side salad – delicious! I loved the added touch of the onions and garlic being added to the sizzle plan at the side of the table, fresh and hot. I also loved the fact that I was pretty much served a full slab of cheese haha!

Ben chose the Masala Fish – fresh cod marinated and deep fried. This was also brought to the table and flash friend with my starter and the onions and garlic and served with a side salad. The fish was cooked beautifully and flaked apart. Another very tasty starter.

For main I went with something a little different; Balti Chicken in Hara Sauce – chicken pieces simmered in a spicy fresh sauce consisting of yoghurt, mint & coriander. I really enjoyed this tasty dish as the mint & coriander made it really fresh. I wouldn’t say it was spicy, definitely not for me, so if you like spicy food I would ask them to make it hot. But there was loads of chicken, and the portion was just right to enjoy and be full but finish it all. Ben chose the Chicken & Lamb Balti which was yummy and had a lovely kick to it! As per usual we shared rice & a very garlicy naan.
So yeah as I say, you can’t really get it far wrong at a curry house and this is another that I would recommend 🙂 Check out more information on their website here.
I am looking forward to trying out more curry houses around Sheffield, please let me know which ones you recommend!
