A lovely, bright Artisan café based in Walkley serving homemade brunches and cakes alongside speciality coffees, teas and even cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed a tasty brunch and hot drink here, great value for money too!
During the Christmas break we decided to go out for brunch one day and after seeing other Sheffield food bloggers posting their food from Aesthete previously via Instagram, we chose here! Arriving a little before 11, the café was just starting to get busy and we were made to feel welcome by the friendly staff and cute venue. This coffee shop is what I would call a modern Artisan café that sells various little bits and bobs throughout the place such as paintings, soft toys, books, cups, etc. The house-made cakes on show at the counter look DIVINE, but we were too full from brunch to try any other treats.
Aesthete has a standard menu offering various brunch dishes from various eggs benedict options, to pancakes as well as toasties, sandwiches and they have a specials board too! Although the specials did sound good (along the lines of Patatas Bravas and a Nachos Bowl, etc) our hearts were set on the following;

It took me a while to decide between the Breakfast Sandwich (bacon, halloumi, avocado & sweet chilli jam) or the Aesthete Breakfast Stack (V) – which I went with in the end. Toasted focaccia, crispy sautéed potato, poached eggs, sautéed mushrooms, spinach & leek, herbed tomato ragu with halloumi. I was very pleased with my choice which at first when it was served, looked like a misleadingly small portion, but there was actually lots on the toast and all of the ingredients tasted so good together. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, runny but not “snotty” and the leeks gave the dish a really nice touch too. Filling, eye-pleasing and very tasty. All this for £8.90.

Ben went with the American Reuben Toastie which is one of our favourite sandwiches! Salt beef, cheese, sauerkraut, pickles, thousand island dressing, mustard, served with side salad (which was smokey flavoured popcorn, leaf salad and rice?? A strange one but he ate it all haha). This toastie was perfectly crisp and full of filling, with lots of cheese and pickles just how we like it! Nothing to fault here, a very satisfying brunch sandwich. This was £6.80.

Food came out super quick for a busy, niche café and alongside this scrumptious food we enjoyed large hot drinks – an Americano (strong and hot) and one of my faves I’ve been enjoying more again recently – Chai Latte – sweet, frothy and comforting just how I like it. Full bill came to £21.70 and I felt this was great for the quality of food we received without the hassle that sometimes having breakfast out can be!
We came out of Aesthete happy & full and both saying we definitely want to return for food again, so I highly recommend it! To find out more about Aesthete Coffee + Kitchen, visit their website here.
