Mount Lebanon, Sheffield City Centre

Lebanese restaurant based on West Street in Sheffield City Centre serving Mediterranean cuisine, made fresh to order, covering a variety of cold and hot mezze, grilled meats and delicious sauces and dips to accompany.

We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening before a Kevin Bridges gig at the City Hall and even though we booked a table a few days before, to be honest the restaurant wasn’t that busy. The decor of the restaurant is very dated – a theme of the Lebanese Mountains that looks like it was from the 80s.. but despite this we really enjoyed the food we had.

The portions seemed to be large for mains so rather than having starters, we ordered a portion of halloumi to share and to come at the same time as our mains. I ordered Chicken Kabseh; Half baby chicken, cooked with rice & levantine spices served with Mount Lebanon tomato sauce and yogurt. With my plate piled high, I happily tucked into this well seasoned and perfectly cooked chicken with rice. A really fulfilling plate of food with good flavour. Ben ordered Mixed Shawarma; slices of marinated lamb & chicken cooked on an upright skewer, served with Mount Lebanon tomato sauce, garlic sauce and chips. Again this was a great big portion, a very comforting plate of food with lots of nice flavours. The halloumi was a great accompaniment to these dishes too.

Service here wasn’t bad, and we claimed our 10% off with the Independent Sheffield card (more info here). If you like Lebanese/Mediterranean food and are looking for somewhere no frills based in the centre of Sheffield then I would say the food here is good, but I don’t think I’m in a rush to return versus trying other places around Sheffield for this cuisine for now. ***Also just to note that I noticed a sign half way through eating our meal, that it was cash only payment***
