A stylish and impressive restaurant based in the landmark of the Old Post Office building in Leeds City Square, offering great food with more of a fine dining feel. A lovely venue for dates, meeting friends and taking family for occasions also.
During January, Restaurant Bar & Grill were offering a menu with 50% off the price if you dined Monday to Friday and downloaded their Club Individual app. The 50% off menu had a great range of amazing sounding courses covering meat, vegetarian and vegan palettes.
I booked a table here to catch up with a friend one Thursday evening, and the restaurant was busy. The décor is impressive, giving a stylish, city centre vibe to it with its high ceilings, low lighting and shiny surfaces. We were made to feel welcome straight away with our coats being taken away and the offer of a drink at the bar first, or being shown straight to the table (we went with the latter as we were hungry!). From being seated thought he service seemed to slow down with what seemed like a long wait between starters and mains, but I put this down to the restaurant being busy.
For starters (I forgot to take a photo) we decided to share the Crispy Duck Spring Rolls with dipping sauce and Chicken Tikka Skewers. I found the Duck Spring rolls a little bland and it was a huge portion for one. The skewers were really yummy and were served with a very good veg slaw.

For my main I chose Roast Duck with honey roast apples, sage and red wine sauce. I also added a side of charred sweet potato wedges. The dish altogether was quite sweet but as you know, this doesn’t bother me with having a sweet tooth but may have been a little too much for someone that doesn’t enjoy savoury and sweet. I rally enjoyed this however. There was enough duck meat for two people on my plate to be honest! But it was cooked beautifully. The side of sweet potatoes with the added creme fraiche , spring onion and pomegranate really complimented each other too.

My friend opted for the cauliflower Katsu Curry which was presented really well and tasted delicious, although was a bit of an over-facing portion. This came with Jasmine rice, pickled red onions and sesame.

To wash this all down we picked the Mojito style mocktail “Berry, Watermelon & Hibiscus No-jito”and these were very refreshing and tasty.
In summary we had a really enjoyable meal and a great catch up at this venue. I think what we received at 50% off (£22 each) was a bargain, although not sure if I would choose here as a regular dining spot at full price. It does seem like a good place for a special occasion.
