A fabulous Tapas Restaurant with a fantastic stylish atmosphere, great for meeting friends, dates and dining with colleagues! The food & service here was faultless! Overall Rating – 8.5/10.
Based in The Calls area of Leeds City centre, this Tapas restaurant offers a range of delicious dishes including meat, fish and vegetable based meals, including Vegan options. Plates are priced from £5 and I reckon 3-4 per person is plenty. Between 2 of us we ordered 8 dishes and some bread and we were pogged!
As part of Eat Leeds in August, where various restaurants offer a selected menu at certain times so that people can dine for less and discover more Restaurants in Leeds, we could order 3 dishes each and a drink (wine, beer, sangria or soft drink) for £15pp. And as it was us we also ordered 2 more dishes and bread on top of this, but I think that 3 dishes per person would be enough as the portions sizes are good.
Here’s what we tried and what we thought;
Pan (VG) – Ambiente baked focaccia bread served with olive oil & balsamic vinegar – Lovely!!
Albóndigas – Beef & pork meatballs served in a chorizo, tomato & olive sauce – Delicious and definitely fresh. Small portion for sharing.
Morcilla – Burgos comes to Yorkshire – our own blend of Yorkshire sausage meat & Spanish black pudding encasing a soft-boiled quail’s egg & deep fried until golden brown – Freshly made, very large portion and really tasty. The egg was just runny, very impressed.
Bistec de Arrachera – Dry rubbed skirt of beef served with BBQ roasted onions & chimichurri – Served rare/cold but one of my favourite dishes as it was delicious. Decent size portion.
Chistorra con Puré de Patatas – A traditional Basque sausage, grilled & served on puréed potato – Large portion and tasty!
Calamares Fritos – Calamares rings deep fried in a buttermilk batter & served with aioli – Good portion size. Standard decent battered calamari.
Patatas Bravas (VGO) – A Spanish classic done our way, roast & fried sliced new potatoes served with aioli & spicy tomato sauce – Very large portion and something a bit different! Maybe more sauce if I was being super picky.
Coliflor Asada (VGO) – Roast cauliflower topped with a rich tomato sauce & aioli – Good sized portion, something different and very tasty.
We were really impressed with the food here and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the great service. I would recommend any tapas lovers to give here a try, and if you don’t know if you like tapas, this place I think would convince you 🙂
Check out their menu here. If you don’t manage to take advantage of the Eat Leeds offer this week, you can enjoy 3 tapas dishes for £11.95, Monday to Friday 12pm-5pm. Ambiente also has Restaurants in the Hull and York areas.
