Domo, Kelham Island – Sheffield

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Sardinian Bar & Restaurant based in Kelham Island Quarter serving authentic and delicious Italian food in a casual but vibrant atmosphere.

So our first meal out since before lockdown and my first time in Kelham Island I enjoyed very much thanks to Domo! Domo is a Sardinian bar & restaurant with a vast menu of traditional Mediterranean dishes on offer. Currently they are accepting bookings to dine in, with social distancing in place in their restaurant of course, and also deliver via City Grab or allow collections too! So there are lots of ways you can enjoy the food from Domo and I would recommend giving them a try.

The service here was great, we arrived early but the restaurant wasn’t too busy so they sat us straight to our table. Tables are well spaced out, and there is hand sanitiser available, a one-way system and table service only for the bar area too.

The only criticism I had here is that the menu is fairly vast however as a pasta lover I didn’t feel there was much variety of pasta compared to other areas of the menu, but that didn’t stop me enjoying my meal and experience here.

We decided just to go for mains as we planned on having a few drinks around Kelham afterwards, so unfortunately I haven’t tried the Starters or Desserts here, YET.

We went with GNOCCHETTI ALLA SARDA – typical shell shaped pasta from Sardinia with fresh tomato sauce and dry cured Sardinian sausage, topped with Parmesan of course. This was a tasty dish, really refreshing for a pasta option, and the portion was just right to fill me but not be too much.

We also tried the DIAVOLO PIZZA – salame picante, nduja, peppers. We were really impressed with the traditional super thin pizza base that was cooked perfectly, and this pizza had a nice bit of a kick to it.  Delicious!

The menu has quite a focus on sharing platters – typical Sardinian-style eating, so these would be good to try I think as well.

Prices for mains range from around £12 – £27, with pizza prices ranging between £9 – £14.

Second visit!!!

We visited Domo a few weeks after my first review, with friends, and we really enjoyed it so I’ve now changed my rating to a 9 out of 10!! The atmosphere was great and the food delicious (from what I can remember as the tequilas were flowing).

We tried the ARANCINE (sorry didn’t get a photo) – beef ragu, peas & mozzarella stuffed rice balls served with tomato sauce. These were really good and we’re quickly becoming a fan of this as a starter.

I then had the LINGUINE PORTO CERVO – Linguine with shelled king prawns, cherry tomatoes, pesto & grated ricotta mustia. I do love a prawn linguine dish and this was super tasty, the pesto made it stand out too and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In summary we really enjoyed our food, the atmosphere and the service we received here. I would happily return to try more!
