After many recommendations from fellow Sheffield Food Bloggers we finally gave Unit a try this weekend. Based on the outskirts of Sheffield Centre, this is about 20-25 minute drive away for us however it was absolutely worth it. We decided to collect rather than pay £10 delivery charge via City Grab! Using their own app, I pre-ordered our meal for a time slot that evening and had no issues at all. I received an email confirming my order when the restaurant opened later that day, and an email to say that my food was ready for collection 2 minute before the slot I had booked 🙂

What we ordered between 2 of us (for a total of £27.40 and 45 minute driving time);
Buffalo Wings (£6) – Hot wings tossed in buffalo sauce and topped with sliced spring onions (6 pcs) – These were lovely! Really decent hot buffalo sauce and lots of it and big chicken wings. A great starter portion for 2.

American Burger (from £8.95) – Beef burger with homemade onion rings, American cheese served in a brioche bun with salad, mustard and ketchup – Of the 2 burgers this was my favourite. The cheese sauce was absolutely gorgeous and I loved that there was chopped raw onion in the salad too. Onion rings were massive and served outside of the burger. All burgers come with chips but you can upgrade, which we did with this burger, to the Dutch Fries – sweet potato & skin on fries topped with gooey mozzarella, cheddar, chillies and spring onions for an extra £2 – definitely worth it!

Buff Ting Burger (from £10.45) – Buttermilk fried chicken burger served in a brioche bun with salad, buffalo sauce, fried gherkins and mayo – LOTS of tasty and crispy chicken in this one, the batter was very flavoursome. The gherkins were coated and deep fried too, served outside of the burger, but were lovely. There wasn’t much buffalo sauce on my burger so the wings made up for that, but it was still a very decent chicken burger.

Our food was neatly prepared into recyclable cartons and we were given 2 pots of what I think was chilli mayo sauce (yum), all bagged up and ready for us when we arrived. Living about 20 mins away meant I needed to pop the food in the oven for about 5 mins just to warm it back up but it was still warm when we got back. As we both like to share and try food, I halved both burgers and managed to split them evenly between us without them falling apart and going everywhere which was a bonus. Just the right size portion to be pleasantly full, just the right mount of messy, and it all tasted really good.

We really enjoyed this takeaway for a lockdown Saturday night in and was absolutely stuffed afterwards. I didn’t mind paying that bit more than a standard takeaway because of the quality of food we got.

Unit are offering collections or takeaways via Uber Eats, Deliveroo & City Grab every day between 4pm – 11pm. Check out their website here for more information.
