Zizzi, Sheffield City Centre

Zizzi is a UK Italian Restaurant chain with over 130 restaurants each individually designed with their local area in mind to make each slightly unique. They serve classic Italian dishes with a modern twist – a refreshing and enjoyable restaurant. Sheffield’s Leopold Square in the City Centre is home to one of the recently refurbished Zizzi’s, which is a gorgeous venue, perfect for all occasions.

Last week, I was kindly invited by Espresso, a PR consultancy, to the re-opening of Zizzi in Sheffield after their recent refurbishment. Working in partnership with Mental Health Foundation, Zizzi hosted a PR evening to showcase their gorgeously refurbed restaurant, delicious new menu AND to raise awareness and money for this very important cause (please spare a moment to donate if you can).

The evening started with Prosecco on arrival and drinks were free flowing throughout the evening, with choices of beer, house wines, prosecco, a cocktail or mocktail. On each table were a portion of homemade “pasta crisps” which were yummy and lovely touch. My place-name had my logo on which I loved 🙂

A sharing board of a selection of starters came next and there was LOTS between the two of us! Everything was delicious from the cheesy mozzarella garlic bread with caramelised balsamic onions which was perfection to the superb goats cheese Arancini. The calamari (ok I tried a bit) was gorgeous and the selection of meats, olives and dips were fab too.

For the main courses we could choose from a limited selection of pizzas, pastas & other meals on offer on their usual menu. Ben enjoyed a whopping RUSTICA HOT POTATO & CALABRIAN SAUSAGE pizza; Calabrese sausage, spicy ‘nduja sausage, sliced rosemary potatoes, roasted red onion, roasted peppers, mozzarella and riserva cheese. This was a very large pizza but was divine. I had the CHICKEN CALABRESE; Oven-roasted chicken with a harissa marinade in a roasted pepper, tomato & spicy ‘nduja sauce. Served with potatoes, roasted red onion and mascarpone. This was a really colourful fresh and tasty dish. I wouldn’t say this was spicy, but a really filling and comfort food dish. At this point we were so full, but…

Everyone has room for dessert right?? Especially when it consists of a trio selection of TIRAMISU – to die for!! SALTED CARAMEL CHOCOLATE BROWNIE – very indulgent, and PASSION FRUIT CHEESECAKE – light and refreshing against all the chocolate.

Drinks were flowing all evening and the staff were really great, ensuring everyone was in high spirits. The restaurant itself has a lovely plant/deep aqua/autumnal vibe about it, with some pieces of art referencing a Sheffield theme throughout, making it unique to this Sheffield-based venue. A very modern, inviting and relaxing restaurant.

A few of my fellow food bloggers from Sheffield that I’ve met via @sheffield_foodie_socials were also invited so it was lovely to catch up with them!

I’d recommend giving this Zizzi a try if you were to choose a chain over an Independent venue, as the food here is great quality and the atmosphere is great.

I hope that my review has inspired you to give this restaurant a try. If you have anywhere you recommend I should eat at, please leave a comment below. If you are a restaurant/food vendor and would like to collaborate with me in any way, please just email me at jensfoodblog@gmail.com!

Happy munching!
